The 8 Station Li-Ion Battery Cabinet has 8 power sockets for you to plug in 8 lithium-ion battery chargers, that’s four batteries per compartment for storing and charging. Each compartment is insulated completely, all around like in a kiln, with 1300 degrees C continuous rated HotWall insulation. We are aware that exploding batteries light up neighbouring batteries and we don’t want the whole cabinet full of exploding batteries having a thermal runaway event.
An individually switched cooling fan assists each compartment to keep cool, expelling cool air over the batteries and chargers out through the flame arrestor to the start of the exhaust vent. Without this exhaust vent pressure built up from the hydrogen gases and fluoride could actually just try to blow the doors open.
When a battery has a thermal runaway event, a trail of Hydrogen gas is emitted firstly, which is immediately followed by the Hydrogen Fluoride smoke and suddenly within 1-3 seconds the battery will explode. The flames follow the trail of gas and smoke as seen in our previous video. The explosion can be so quick and so violent that the only way to handle the effects is to contain it and let the battery spend its energy .
A lithium-ion battery explosion can reach temperatures of over 1000 degrees C. Without the HotWall insulation the temperature inside each compartment would quickly permeate through to the outside wall of the cabinet – creating another possible fire disaster within the factory .
Lithium-ion battery management is a serious business. You should never choose a flammable goods cabinet to house your lithium-ion batteries – too many risks! If it was that simple we would have lead you to our Flammable Goods Cabinet range.

Complete technical specifications, compliance certificates, and installation guide
Thermal runaway occurs when a lithium-ion battery overheats and releases hydrogen gas, followed by hydrogen fluoride smoke, leading to an explosion within 1-3 seconds. The explosion can reach over 1000 degrees C and cause cascading failures in nearby batteries. Learn more about lithium-ion batteries and charging fire risks and the specific safety measures required.
Our HotWall insulation system completely surrounds each compartment like a kiln, with continuous ratings of 1260-1430 degrees C. This prevents heat from permeating to the cabinet’s exterior walls, protecting your facility from secondary fire disasters when thermal runaway occurs.
Check our video on how well our HotWall Extreme Temperature Insulation works.
The TSCW ventilation system safely expels hydrogen gases and hydrogen fluoride fumes through flame arrestors to exhaust vents. Without proper ventilation, pressure buildup could force 8 Station Li-Ion Battery Cabinet doors open or create dangerous conditions. This system is critical for safe battery management.
No – regular flammable goods cabinets are not designed for lithium-ion battery risks. The unique dangers of thermal runaway, hydrogen gas emissions, and extreme temperatures require specialised containment solutions. For first-time buyers wondering about the differences, check our battery charging cabinet compliance guide.
Our 8 Station Li-Ion Battery Cabinets accommodate 4 batteries per compartment, with total capacities ranging from 4 stations (1 compartment) to 20 stations (5 compartments). The Heavy Duty model specifically supports 48V batteries, while other models accommodate various lithium-ion battery types with their respective chargers.
Each compartment is individually insulated to contain explosions and prevent thermal runaway from spreading to neighbouring batteries. The HotWall insulation and TSCW ventilation system work together to contain the explosion, manage dangerous gases, and protect your facility from secondary fires.
